LinkedIn outreach benchmarks 2026: 11,701 connection requests, measured
Across 11,701 connection requests sent for 10 clients between 25 June to 23 September 2026, 16.4% were accepted and 7.9% of messages sent afterwards got a reply. End to end, 2.36% of connection requests turned into a conversation.
The funnel, and where it leaks
| Stage | Volume | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Connection requests sent | 11,701 | |
| Connections accepted | 1,919 | 16.4% of requests |
| Messages and InMails sent | 3,475 | |
| Replies received | 276 | 7.9% of messages |
| Replies per accepted connection | 276 | 14.4% of accepted |
| Profile views generated | 13,690 | 1.17 per request |
The expensive stage is acceptance, not messaging. 83.6% of the funnel is lost before a single message is sent.
What most advice optimises
Most LinkedIn advice is about message copy, which optimises the stage that already works: once someone accepts, roughly one in seven replies.
The stage that loses five out of six people is the connection request, and almost nobody measures it separately.
How this compares to cold email
End to end, LinkedIn produced a conversation from 2.36% of connection requests. Cold email produced a reply from 2.70% of prospects contacted.
Read that as "per person reached these channels perform similarly", not as a head to head. The sets differ: email covers 45 clients, LinkedIn 10, and the audiences only partly overlap. The real difference is volume and cost. Email reaches a scale LinkedIn cannot. LinkedIn reaches people whose inbox is saturated.
Methodology
- Source
- Danish Lead Co's own delivery platform, the system that runs client campaigns day to day. All figures are aggregate and anonymised. No client, campaign or prospect is identifiable.
- Window
- 25 June to 23 September 2026, a 90-day window.
- Population
- 10 client companies, 11,701 connection requests. This is a narrower set than the email study, which covers 45 clients.
- Classification
- A reply is any inbound message on the thread after our own. Acceptance is recorded by the platform, not inferred.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good LinkedIn connection acceptance rate?
16.4% across 11,701 cold requests. Above 30% usually means a warm or lookalike audience.
How many LinkedIn messages does it take to get one reply?
Roughly thirteen. 3,475 messages produced 276 replies.
Is LinkedIn better than cold email?
Per person reached they are close. Email wins on volume, LinkedIn on reaching people who ignore email. Running both against one list beats choosing.
Do profile views matter?
They are a by-product, 13,690 here, and they do not convert alone. Treat them as evidence the audience is right, not as a result.
Want these numbers run on your own list?
Most LinkedIn programmes are tuned on message copy when the loss is at acceptance. The call is where we look at which stage yours is losing.
